Cape Kidnappers
Perched high above the Pacific Ocean on the dramatic cliffs of Hawke’s Bay, Cape Kidnappers Golf Course is one of the world’s most awe-inspiring golfing experiences. Designed by the renowned Tom Doak, this par-71 masterpiece stretches over 6,500 metres of rolling farmland and rugged ravines, demanding both precision and nerve from every player. Consistently ranked among the Top 50 Golf Courses in the World by Golf Digest and Golf Magazine, Cape Kidnappers is celebrated for its jaw-dropping coastal holes that appear to hover above the ocean, offering panoramic views unlike anywhere else.
After a round, golfers can relax and relive their highlights in the elegant Cape Kidnappers Clubhouse, featuring warm hospitality, locally inspired cuisine, and sweeping vistas across the fairways and Hawke’s Bay coastline. Whether enjoying a post-round meal, a New Zealand wine, or simply taking in the scenery, the clubhouse perfectly complements the world-class golf experience. For tour groups, Cape Kidnappers is more than just a round of golf — it’s a bucket-list destination where natural beauty, thoughtful design, and unforgettable moments come together on every hole.

Kinloch Golf Club
Kinloch Golf Club primarily refers to The Kinloch Club in Taupō, New Zealand, a globally-acclaimed Jack Nicklaus Signature course. Carved from rolling farmland, this course is renowned for its rugged, inland links-style design, a departure from Nicklaus's typical style, and is consistently rated among the top courses in the world and the toughest in New Zealand. It offers a demanding test of strategy with dramatic elevation changes, numerous pot bunkers, and stunning panoramic views over the majestic Lake Taupō. The accompanying Kinloch Manor & Villas provides luxury accommodation, creating an exclusive golf resort experience.
The name also belongs to the private Kinloch Golf Club in Manakin-Sabot, Virginia, USA.4 Co-designed by golf course architect Lester George and U.S. Amateur Champion Vinny Giles, this course quickly earned a "Best New Course" award upon opening and is celebrated for its masterful design and excellent practice facilities. It maintains a high standard as one of the elite private clubs in the United States, further establishing the "Kinloch" name in the global golf landscape.

Wairakei Golf + Sanctuary
Wairakei Golf + Sanctuary is a world-class, 18-hole championship golf course located near Lake Taupō on New Zealand’s North Island. Opened in 1970 and designed by Commander John Harris, Peter Thomson, and Michael Wolveridge, the course is celebrated for its beautiful parkland layout, which skillfully uses the natural, rolling terrain and features over 100 strategically placed bunkers.
However, Wairakei's defining feature is its unique status as a predator-free wildlife sanctuary. A 5.5-kilometer "Xcluder" fence encircles the entire property, creating a protected haven for endangered and native New Zealand species, including the elusive kiwi, takahē, and kārearea (New Zealand falcon), along with fallow deer and various other bird species. The sanctuary actively partners with the Department of Conservation and hosts a dedicated kiwi incubation facility. Golfers enjoy an unforgettable experience where a challenging round is played in harmony with a thriving, pristine natural ecosystem.

Taupo Golf Club
Taupō Golf Club is unique in New Zealand for offering two distinct 18-hole courses on the same site: Centennial and Tauhara. Located near the picturesque Lake Taupō in a mature parkland setting, the club provides a total of 36 holes of golf that cater to all skill levels.
The Centennial Course is the premier, championship-length track, renowned for its challenging layout, strategically placed bunkers, and a difficult finishing hole. The shorter, more forgiving Tauhara Course is an ideal option for social, corporate, and junior golfers, meandering across encouraging, flatter terrain. Both courses offer a classic New Zealand inland golf experience on pumice-based parklands, featuring scenic views of the surrounding volcanic landscape, including the iconic Mount Tauhara. The club's extensive practice facilities and welcoming atmosphere make it a favorite for both locals and visiting golfers.

Distances are deceptively big. Taupō → Hawke’s Bay (Cape Kidnappers region) is a proper travel leg. Treat it like part of the experience, not just transfer time.
Wind can completely reshape the round. If it’s breezy, expect a strategic survival-chess version of golf on clifftops. If it’s calm, it feels like a dream sequence.
The real cinematic stretch of Cape Kidnappers is the back nine cliffs. Build buffer time so you’re not racing sunset or post-round transfers.
North Island spring/early summer swings fast: sun → wind → rain → sun again. A windbreaker becomes your MVP item.
You’ll be in wine country. If there’s a free afternoon, allocate it to vineyard stops or tastings in Havelock North rather than downtime in the room.
Don’t stack heavy golf expectations after travel. Your body (and swing tempo) will thank you for lighter scheduling after long drives.
NZ sun + coastal reflection = sneaky burn. SPF, lip balm, and sunglasses are not optional extras—they’re gear.
Cape Kidnappers especially rewards positioning over distance. Many fairways feel generous… until you meet the edges.
Some stretches between Taupō and Hawke’s Bay get patchy signal. Keep lodge addresses and timing offline just in case.
You’ll shift between golf, lodge dinners, and light adventure (Can-Am tours, viewpoints, etc.). Think smart casual layers that work everywhere.
This is one of the most exciting team events! Both players tee off, you then select the best ball and from there you play your own ball all the way out.
