Pearl Valley Golf Course
Set in the Cape Winelands beneath the Simonsberg Mountains, Pearl Valley is a Jack Nicklaus Signature design ranked consistently among the Top 5–10 courses in South Africa. Immaculately maintained with wide fairways, water features, and strategic bunkering, it blends championship golf with vineyard scenery. It has hosted the South African Open and Investec Cup, confirming its elite status. The par-3 13th and closing stretch are standout moments, while the estate setting delivers a refined luxury golf experience.

Established in 1999, Arabella is a modern masterpiece that consistently ranks among the Top 10 courses in South Africa. Designed by the acclaimed Peter Matkovich, the par-72 championship layout winds dramatically along the pristine waters of the Bot River Lagoon, framed by the majestic Kogelberg mountain range. The course seamlessly blends parkland and coastal aesthetics, challenging golfers with pristine kikuyu fairways, brilliant white-sand bunkers, and slick, dominant-bent greens. Its thrilling finishing stretches on both nines—highlighted by the breathtaking, downhill par-5 8th and the iconic lagoon-hugging 18th—have hosted prestigious events like the Nelson Mandela Invitational. Arabella delivers an exceptional resort golf experience where meticulous conditioning, strategic shot-making, and unparalleled natural beauty converge.

Pinnacle Point Golf Course
Perched on dramatic cliffs above the Indian Ocean, Pinnacle Point is a Peter Matkovich design ranked among the Top 5 most scenic and Top 10–15 courses in South Africa. Seven holes play along the coastline, creating constant ocean drama and elevation shifts. The par-3 13th is world-famous for its cliffside setting. Globally recognised for design and scenery, it delivers a cinematic experience shaped by wind, waves, and rugged coastal terrain unlike anywhere else in Africa.

The Links at Fancourt
Designed by Gary Player, The Links is widely ranked #1 in South Africa and among the world’s elite courses. Inspired by Scottish links golf, it features dunes, pot bunkers, and firm fairways creating a brutally pure championship test. It famously hosted the 2003 Presidents Cup with Tiger Woods and Ernie Els. Access is highly exclusive, reinforcing its prestige. The Links is South Africa’s ultimate golf experience—strategic, demanding, and unforgettable at every turn.

Montagu Golf Course
Montagu is a refined parkland championship course at Fancourt, ranked among the Top 10–20 in South Africa. Originally designed by Dick Wilson and refined by Gary Player, it features sculpted bunkering, tree-lined fairways, and immaculate conditioning beneath the Outeniqua Mountains. It has hosted multiple Sunshine Tour events and elite tournaments. Montagu rewards accuracy and smart strategy while maintaining resort elegance, delivering a polished championship experience within one of South Africa’s premier golf estates.

Outeniqua Golf Course
Outeniqua offers a relaxed yet championship-quality round within the Fancourt estate, ranked among the Top 20–30 resort courses in South Africa. Designed by Dick Wilson and enhanced by Gary Player, it features generous fairways, strategic hazards, and smooth greens framed by mountain scenery. It is the most playable of the three Fancourt courses but still delivers strong test value. Known for flow and enjoyment, it completes one of the world’s greatest golf estate collections.

Pezula Championship Golf Course
Pezula is a cliffside masterpiece above Knysna, consistently ranked among the Top 10 most scenic and Top 15–20 courses in South Africa. Designed by David Dale and Ron Fream, it winds through coastal fynbos, dramatic elevation changes, and ocean viewpoints. The par-5 13th overlooking the Knysna Heads is iconic. Known for its wind-influenced challenge and breathtaking visuals, Pezula blends luxury, nature, and championship golf into one of Africa’s most unforgettable coastal experiences.

Top 10 Travel Tips for Joining a South Africa Golf Tour from Australia
Prepare for the time difference early
South Africa is several hours behind Australia, so begin adjusting your sleep schedule a few days before departure. Getting outside in natural sunlight on arrival is one of the best ways to reduce jet lag.
Pack for changing weather conditions
Cape Town and the Garden Route can experience cool mornings, warm afternoons and windy coastal conditions all in the same day. Bring lightweight layers, a wind jacket and comfortable travel clothing.
Travel insurance and visa preparation
Australian passport holders generally do not require a tourist visa for short stays in South Africa, however passports must be valid with blank pages available. Comprehensive travel insurance is strongly recommended and should include medical cover, golf equipment and trip interruptions.
Expect different golf course conditions
South African courses are often firmer and faster than many Australian layouts. Ball rollout can be significant, particularly on links-style courses, so course management becomes very important.
Keep valuables and golf equipment secure
Always use hotel safes where available and avoid leaving valuables or golf clubs unattended in vehicles. Consider luggage trackers for golf bags during international travel.
Stay hydrated throughout the tour
Warm temperatures, walking championship courses and travel days can quickly lead to dehydration. Drink water consistently throughout each day, especially during consecutive golf rounds.
Allow for longer travel days
Distances between regions such as Cape Town, the Winelands and the Garden Route can take longer than expected. Build extra time into transfers and enjoy the scenery rather than rushing between destinations.
Take advantage of the local food and wine experiences
South Africa’s wine regions and restaurants are a major highlight of the trip. Franschhoek and Stellenbosch offer world-class wineries, local produce and excellent dining experiences beyond the golf itself.
Be ready for wildlife and safari schedules
Safari experiences usually operate early morning and late afternoon when animals are most active. Bring neutral-coloured clothing, comfortable shoes and a camera with plenty of storage.
Play within yourself and enjoy the experience
Courses like Pinnacle Point and The Links at Fancourt can be challenging, particularly in the wind. Focus on enjoying the scenery, the friendships and the experience rather than chasing perfect scores every round.
