Visa Requirements
Most nationalities can apply for a Vietnam e-Visa online (30 days, single entry). Apply at least 2–3 weeks before departure. Print a copy and keep a digital version on your phone.
Travel Insurance
Make sure you have comprehensive travel insurance that covers medical, cancellations, lost luggage, and sports like golf. Keep your policy details handy.
Currency & Payments
Local currency is the Vietnamese Dong (VND). Cash is useful for tipping caddies, small shops, and taxis. ATMs are widely available, but carry smaller notes. Major hotels accept cards.
Phone & Internet Service
Easiest option: buy a local SIM card at Da Nang Airport (Viettel or Mobifone are reliable) or use an eSIM like Airalo before departure. Data is cheap and fast.
Power Points & Adaptors
Vietnam uses Type A, C, and D plugs (220V). Bring a universal travel adaptor with surge protection for charging phones, rangefinders, and devices.
Getting Around
Your golf package includes all transfers, but if you venture out, use Grab (ride-hailing app) instead of taxis—it’s safer and cheaper. Walking in Hoi An is easy and enjoyable.
Health & Safety
Drink bottled water only. Carry sunscreen, insect repellent, and any prescription meds (in original packaging). Hospitals in Danang are good, but always travel insured.
Packing for Golf
Pack lightweight golf apparel (humidity is high). Bring a collapsible umbrella for sudden showers and a hat/visor for sun. Gloves wear out faster in the heat—bring spares.
Caddie Etiquette & Tipping
English-speaking caddies are included. Tip is usually 200,000–300,000 VND per round (around $12–18 AUD). Small notes are useful for this.
Cultural & Tour Extras
Respect local customs—dress modestly outside resorts. Learn a few phrases like “Xin chào” (hello) and “Cảm ơn” (thank you). Don’t miss Hoi An’s lantern-lit evenings, local street food, and the National Day fireworks over the Han River—truly unforgettable!
